Time Warner Telecom Inc. (Nasdaq: TWTC) announced
that Larissa Herda has been elected to the position
of Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective at the
company's annual meeting on June 7, 2001. Herda will also
retain the position of President and CEO. Herda became
President and CEO of Time Warner Telecom in June 1998. Under
Herda's leadership, the company extended its market reach to
39 metropolitan service areas from 19, and Time Warner
Telecom moved to the top of emerging telecom services
providers. During the same time period, the company's
annualized quarterly revenue increased 540% to $693 million.
Since the second quarter of 1999, Time Warner Telecom has
experienced eight consecutive quarters of increasing
positive recurring EBITDA. The company also increased DS-0
equivalents from approximately 2.3 million to nearly 11.4
million, which is an indication of the enormous amount of
data, voice and Internet services being transported by the
company's expansive local and regional fiber networks.
Teligent Inc., which recently filed for bankruptcy
protection, said that Howard Jonas resigned as its
chairman of the board, fewer than four weeks after taking
over. Jonas is chairman and chief executive of IDT Corp., a
Newark, N.J.-based telephone services provider which
recently had a greater than one-third stake in Teligent.
Jonas, who replaced former AT&T Corp. executive Alex
Mandl as chairman on April 30, also resigned as a Teligent
director, Teligent said.
PRIMUS Telecommunications Group, Incorporated (Nasdaq:
PRTL), a global facilities-based Total Service Provider
offering an integrated portfolio of data, Internet,
e-commerce, hosted applications and voice services,
announced the appointment of Danielle Saunders to the
position of General Counsel. Saunders joined PRIMUS in
February 1999 as Vice President, Business Development and
will continue to maintain this role along with her new
responsibilities. The responsibilities of the position of
General Counsel at PRIMUS include the implementation and
maintenance of corporate policy and governance, business and
contractual standards, legal and regulatory compliance, and
securities matters. Corporate development responsibilities
include the formation and stewardship of partnerships,
alliances and contracts with customers and vendors, mergers
and acquisitions activities, and new business opportunities.
Prior to joining PRIMUS, Saunders served as Senior Counsel
for Teleglobe International. Previously, she worked in the
corporate and securities practices of both Shaw Pittman and
Hunton & Williams, focusing on general corporate and
securities matters, including acquisitions, technology
licensing, and public and private securities offerings.
Saunders was a member of The George Washington Law Review
and received her J.D. with honors from The National Law
Center, George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She
graduated magna cum laude from George Washington University
with a B.A. in International Affairs.
DSL.net, Inc. (Nasdaq: DSLN), a direct provider of
high-speed Internet access solutions for small- and
medium-sized businesses, announced two recent appointments
to its senior management team. Walter R. Keisch has
been appointed vice president of finance. Keisch will have
responsibility for all day-to-day financial operations of
the company and will report directly to Keith Markley,
president and chief operating officer of DSL.net. He will be
heavily involved in the company's financing efforts. As vice
president of customer service and support, Lucie
Poulicakos will be responsible for all aspects of
service operations, customer retention and relationship
management. Poulicakos joins DSL.net from Covad
Communications, where she was director of customer support,
responsible for ISP wholesaling activities.
Maxcom Telecomunicaciones, S.A. de C.V., a
facilities-based telecommunications provider (CLEC) using a
"smart build" approach to focus on small- and
medium-sized businesses and residential customers in Mexico
City and Puebla announced that Lic. Eloisa Martinez will
join the company on June 1, 2001 as Chief Financial Officer.
Martinez brings 23 years of professional experience in
finance, most recently as Financial Planning and Control
Director at Grupo Iusacell, where, for the last 4 years, was
key to the successful growth of the business in different
areas such as financial planning, budget control and
financial evaluation. Previously, Martinez worked for 12
years at IBM Corporation in Mexico and the U.S., where she
had an outstanding performance in positions such as
Controller, Internal Audit Manager, Corporate Internal
Auditor, and Business Control & Planning Analyst.
Martinez holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration
from the Instituto Politecnico Nacional in Mexico City, and
a Master degree in Business Administration from the
Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.
Currently, she is in the process of obtaining a High Level
Management Post-degree from the Instituto Panamericano de
Alta Direccion de Empresa in Mexico City.
