Z-Tel Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM:ZTEL), a provider of telecommunications services to residential and small business customers, announced changes to its management team and Board of Directors. Eduard Mayer, who has served as director since July 1998 and Vice President of Strategic Alliances since July 1999, has resigned from both positions to pursue other interests. In addition, Michael Slauson, Vice President of Customer Care, is replacing James F. Corman as President of Z-Tel Consumer Services. Corman is leaving the company to work full-time with the Corman Foundation, a charity organization he founded in 1989. The company has not chosen a replacement for the Board vacancy created by Mayer's departure at this time. Slauson came to Z-Tel from Touch 1, Communications, Inc. as Vice President of Information Systems. Prior to joining Touch 1, he held positions as Computer Programmer/Analyst and Department Manager of Human Resource Programs at Mason & Hanger Corp. Following Z-Tel's acquisition of Touch 1 in April 2000, he became Vice President of Enterprise Systems and has served as Vice President of Customer Care since January 2001. He holds a degree in Management Information Systems from Texas Tech University and an M.B.A. from West Texas A&M University.

Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. ("ACS") (Nasdaq:ALSK) an integrated communications provider in Alaska, announced that Kathryn Anderson has accepted the position of Senior Vice President with responsibility for sales, marketing and product management. Anderson is a seasoned executive with more than 27 years in the telecommunications and computer industries. Anderson served as Vice President of Business Internet Solutions with AT&T, where she was responsible for product marketing, product management and service planning. In previous assignments, she led the domestic marketing operation for the AT&T (now Lucent) Cable Systems division and was Vice President of Software Marketing for NCR. Anderson most recently was President of Pescatore Systems International, LLC, a management consulting company that specializes in marketing and strategic planning for Internet technology, information systems and software. Anderson will replace Mike Nichols, who has retired.
Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Arizona State University and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Rutgers University.

BTI Telecom Corp. (BTI), a facilities-based integrated communications provider (ICP) in the southeastern United States, announced that Brian Branson, Chief Financial Officer, will resign from the company, effective December 15, 2001. Branson had been CFO since August 1996, serving previously as BTI's Treasurer. He joined the Company in July 1992. BTI has begun an executive search for a new CFO and expects to announce a successor in the coming weeks.

Metromedia Fiber Network (MFN) (Nasdaq: MFNX), a provider of digital communications infrastructure solutions, announced that Mark Spagnolo, who has been leading the operations of MFN since his appointment as President and Chief Operating Officer in early October, shall assume the title of President and Chief Executive Officer. Nick Tanzi, MFN's Chief Executive Officer, is resigning from the company effective November 30, 2001 for personal reasons.
