Introduction
RapidStream is pleased to propose a solution for IPRVnet that allows you to offer a managed security service that will be competitive today and tomorrow. RapidStream provides IPRVnet with a new generation of firewall/VPN solutions based on RapidStream's programmable security ASIC called RapidCore. The combination of our high-performance acceleration technology and our robust software features provide a strong security complement to IPRVnet's Internet access services. With a RapidStream-based security solution, IPRVnet can compete against existing Managed Security Providers who are using security products that have architectures that are limited for future enhancements or are creating performance bottlenecks on customer's broadband service.

Solution Sets:
Low tech small office:
To secure 10-25 employee networks, RapidStream proposes the RapidStream 1000 VPN/firewall appliance. The 1000 contains two 10/100 Ethernet interfaces and a dedicated high availability (HA) port. RapidStream believes that since we're halfway through year 2001, a device that contains only 10 Mbps Ethernet interfaces sends a message to the customer that they are buying yesterday's technology whereas the RapidStream 1000 uses state-of-the-art technology.

The RapidStream 1000 contains RapidCore, RapidStream's programmable security ASIC. There are five total processors in the RapidStream 1000 to simultaneously enforce firewall, VPN, Network Address Translation (NAT), load balancing, and Quality of Service (QoS) policies.

The RapidStream 1000 addresses this customer application and provides for the anticipated growth. Five of RapidStream's VPN Clients are included in the $1,995 price, providing the office administrator with remote client in order to access the office network securely after hours. IPRVnet may also configure security policies on the RapidStream 1000 to enforce time of day access if the customer wants this added protection.

The RapidStream 1000 can be centrally administered through the RapidStream Centralized Policy Management System. The RapidStream 1000 can also be managed through a Command Line Interface (CLI) via the console port or through secure Telnet. A modem can be attached to the console port for out-of-band management. For customers concerned with uptime, the RapidStream 1000 supports high availability (HA) through its dedicated HA port. An auto-synchronization feature allows IPRVnet to install and configure the back-up unit in minutes. The HA capability provides an upsell service opportunity for IPRVnet.

In addition, security for the hosted Web server can also be offered by installing a RapidStream appliance in front of the Web server at IPRVnet's data center.

High tech dot-com:
RapidStream proposes a RapidStream 2000 as the CPE for this customer environment. The RapidStream 2000 contains three 10/100 Ethernet interfaces providing a DMZ for the customer's public email server.

For the remote telecommuters, the RapidStream VPN Client and the RapidStream 500 security appliance are proposed. Since a dot.com may have technical people with a Network Address Translation box already installed on their home network, RapidStream has certified the leading NAT boxes that support IPSec pass through to work with the RapidStream VPN Client including LinkSys, SMC, and Nexland. This allows IPRVnet to support existing home installations for the dot.com company's employees.

The RapidStream 500 can be installed at employee's homes that have broadband access (DSL, cable modem). The RapidStream 500 supports DHCP and PPPoE so it can work with any service using dynamic IP address assignment.

One note on RapidStream 2000 list price$4,995, which includes firewall, VPN, hacker defense, digital certificates, load balancing, and QoS. Fifty RapidStream VPN Clients are also included.

Distributed Mid-sized business:
To secure a distributed mid-size business with 200 employees (100@ HQ, 4 Branch offices, 50 mobile) RapidStream proposes the RapidStream 4000 VPN/firewall appliance at IPRVnet's headquarters and the RSSA 1000 security appliance at each of the four branch office locations. For the remote telecommuting workers and mobile users, the RapidStream 500 and the RapidStream VPN Client security appliance are proposed.

The RapidStream 4000 is a high performance, fast Ethernet firewall and VPN security appliance featuring three Ethernet interfaces (public, private DMZ) in a low-profile chassis. A 100-user license of RapidStream's VPN client is included in the $7,495 price. Key features include:

• DMZ interface allows internal and external access while also providing firewall protection for the rest of the network from unauthorized access from those same external users.
• Firewall throughput exceeds 240Mbps IPRVnet's corporate mail and Web servers will experience no performance degradation very common to other vendor's firewall solutions.
• An added advantage provided by the 4000 is Web server load balancing. This feature allows up to 16 servers grouped in a single cluster all load balanced for improved performance and service, providing an efficient traffic management scheme that can scale as additional Web servers are added.
• RapidStream's VPN Tunnel Switching, a feature across all RapidStream appliances, the 1000 can be located at each of the branch offices and all traffic to and from the remote locations will be securely connected back to the corporate headquarters to the centrally located 4000.
• RapidStream's VPN Tunnel Switching feature reduces the complexity of IPSec configuration and policy management alleviating the need to configure tunnels at each of the remote sites, lowering IPRVnet's ongoing administration costs

Besides the simplified deployment and cost savings advantages, VPN Tunnel switching ensures that all traffic communication is through a secure, encrypted IPSec tunnel. This high-end security feature virtually eliminates the possibility of a hacker penetrating IPRVnet's corporate network structure by entering through a branch office location.

For authenticating the mobile users the RapidStream 4000 has been tested and approved with several industry leading RADIUS servers including Windows 2000, Steel-Belted, Livingston, Cistron, and RSA to name a few. In addition to supporting RADIUS the 4000 also has the ability to support up to 2000 remote users through it's own local database to authenticate all of IPRVnet's remote users using IKE's XAUTH and CONF protocol.

The list price of a RapidStream 4000 is $7,495 and $1,995 for the 1000. Both appliances include stateful packet inspection firewall, VPN, hacker defense, digital certificates, VPN tunnel switching, RADIUS authentication, policy checker, and QoS. A robust Java-based graphical user interface (GUI) manager and a powerful command line interface (CLI) is also included as a standard feature, allowing novice and advance security administrators to install and mange the units. One hundred VPN client user license is included in the RapidStream 4000 and five copies in the 1000 price. The RapidStream 500 lists for $695 in packs of ten.
